Abstract:
Target: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 10 weeks of HIIT training with calorie restriction on body composition and aerobic capacity of overweight and obese women.
Methodology: The present study is quasi-experimental. Thirty-six women with a mean age of 32.71 ± 4.11 years and a weight of 75.19 ± 4.86 kg and a body mass index of 29.23 ± 2.01 kg / m2 were randomly divided into three groups. Experimental group 1: Mini-trampoline training with calorie restriction (12 people), Experimental group 2: Calorie restriction (12 people) And control group (12 people). Height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, hip circumference, chest circumference, muscle mass, fat mass, fat percentage and aerobic capacity of all subjects were measured by air composition device, tape measure and Cooper test before participating in the study. Then exercise and diet calorie restriction (deduction of 500 calories from daily energy intake) was performed for 10 weeks. Exercises were performed three times a week, one hour each. After 10 weeks of exercise and diet, all measurements were taken again under the same conditions as the pre-test. One-way skewness and analysis of variance were used to determine the normality and homogeneity of the data, respectively. To compare the three groups in the post-test, covariance and Bonferroni post hoc test were used at a significant level (P <0.5).
Findings: The two experimental groups significantly reduced BMI, waist-to-height ratio, fat mass and increased aerobic capacity compared to the control group and In experimental group 1, in addition to the above body weight factors, the percentage of body fat also decreased. Also, in comparing the two experimental groups, except for aerobic capacity, no significant difference was observed in the other variables.
Conclusion: The results showed that HIIT training with calorie restriction had a greater effect on improving body composition and aerobic capacity compared to calorie restriction alone but HIIT exercise alone had no effect on body composition other than aerobic capacity.
