Abstract:
Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of 3 and 6 sessions of aerobic training with basic football training on growth hormone concentrations in 13 to 16 year old adolescent football players. This research was quasi-experimental research and was a practical component in terms of using the results.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population of this study was 13 to 16 year old boys, 30 of whom were purposefully selected and then randomly divided into three control groups (I), exercises 3 sessions (II) and exercises 6 sessions per week (III) were divided. The two training groups performed aerobic exercises for 6 weeks with moderate intensity (50-75) percent of maximum heart rate along football school training for 70 minutes per session. In this training program, the principle of overload was such that the intensity of training was initially 50% of the maximum heart rate and every week 5% was added to the intensity of training until it finally reached 75%. Correlated t-test was used to compare within-group changes and one-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences between groups. Results: Aerobic and basic football training 3 and 6 sessions for 6 weeks both caused a significant increase in Total and Free growth hormone levels (P = 0.002 and p=0.008, respectively) and (P = 0.002 and P = 0.004). But there was no significant difference between the effect of these two types on growth hormone levels (P = 0.851 and P = 0.935, respectively). Conclusion: According to the results of present study, it should be said that aerobic training with basic football exercises has a beneficial effect on the secretion of Total and Free growth hormone can be useful in adolescents, but increasing the number of training sessions per week can not have a greater effect on secretion.
