Objectives. In this research the main purpose is to study Iran’s public policy in sport and to explain theoretical foundations and the base of making policy in sport in order to pathology Iran’s public policy through studying previous articles and studies. Methods. This research employed a descriptive-review approach. Results: Results show public policy in Iran’s sport needs a fundamental review especially because of the long period of time for submitting a bill or proposal until enacting as law and also because of the far distance between what the law determines and what is fulfilled practically that both are serious problems in the process of sport public policy. Conclusion: In spite of the related organizations’ activities, it seems lack of coherence in policies of sport development in Ministry of Sports and Youth and federations has resulted to parallel activities and has wasted capitals. Therefore, it is essential to pay more attention to sport public policy and to codify a national document that explain Iran’s policies, purposes and macro strategies in sport.
