Methodology: This research is a review, and analytical study. Accordingly, foreign documents and research from reputable scientific sources, and databases were reviewed and analyzed using the library study method. Research findings were classified into two categories: 1. Human rights violations, and 2. The consolidation and promotion of human rights in the governments participating in the major sporting events.
Results: Findings showed that the most important human rights violations in major sporting events include labor rights, forced dismissal of citizens, police violence, social discrimination, women’s trafficking for sexual exploitation, and child abuse. Also, in the second part of the findings, practical strategies for protecting and promoting human rights, including four strategies of 1- good governance, 2- democratization and meaningful participation, 3- accreditation of the human rights agenda, and 4- fair development of urban areas, were introduced.
Conclusion: Following international human rights standards, the organizers of major sporting events can define and guarantee specific responsibilities for each organization and stakeholder so that from the beginning of the hosting privilege to the end of the event, the rights of the different groups of participants would be protected.
