Abstract
Introduction: With age, physical abilities gradually decrease. These capabilities include posture control, performance, and more. These can affect the quality of life and reduce it. So far, various exercise programs have been offered to increase the physical abilities of the elderly and middle-aged people. Thera-band and PNF exercises are some of the exercises that have been mentioned in research. But comparing the effect of exercise is very important. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is the comparison of the comparison of the effect of the PNF training and thera-band training on control posture and function on Inactive women in Qazvin province.
Materials and methods: The statistical sample of the study consisted of 30 subjects who were randomly divided into 3 groups of 10 people. The age of the subjects was 45 to 55 years. The studied variables included posture control (static and dynamic balance) and performance which were assessed using Y balance test, stroke stands test and eight-Latin test in pre-test and post-test respectively. Covariance and LSD post hoc tests were used to compare the effect of exercise. All tests were performed at a significant level of P <0.05.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between all groups in dynamic balance (Control and thera-band P=0.001, control and PNF P=0.004, thera-band and PNF P=0.001). Also, there is a significant difference in static balance between control and thera-band and PNF, control and PNF (control and thera-band P=0.012, control and PNF P=0.017), but there was no significant difference between thera-band and PNF. Also, there was no significant difference between all groups regarding the eight Latin test.
Conclusion: Considering the research results, it can be concluded that thera-band and PNF exercises can improve balance in middle-aged people. But the effect of thera-band exercises on balance can be better than PNF exercises.
