Abstract:
Various studies have shown that focusing on the skills and events that players want to happen in the match, in many cases, have positive results. Therefore, in the present study, we try to investigate the effect of using strengths in training on sports success of football players. The present research is applied in terms of purpose, which has been done in a descriptive-correlative manner. The statistical population included all football players aged 17 years and older in Mashhad. Due to the lack of accurate information about them, Morgan's table was used to determine the sample size, based on which 384 people were randomly selected as samples. In order to collect data, two standard questionnaires of strengths use scale (Van Zyl et al., 2021) and sports success questionnaire (Mousavi and Vaez Mousavi, 2015) were used. In order to confirm the content validity of the tool, the questionnaires was provided to 12 sports psychology professionals. To confirm the reliability, Cronbach's alpha test was used, thus, the reliability of the questionnaires was 0.87 and 0/92 respectively. Finally, descriptive and inferential tests (Pearson correlation test) were used to analyze the collected data. In addition, all statistical analyzes of the study were performed using SPSS software version 23. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between strengths use and sports success in football players. Also, it was found that the strengths use has the ability to predict 65% of changes in the sports success of football players. Therefore, football teams and players are advised to use sports psychologists to dedicate minutes of their training to using their strengths and thus provide the necessary conditions for success in sports competitions.
