Abstract:
One of the main issues in the field of sports that needs to be seriously studied is the low level of girl's participation in physical activities and the factors and variables that affect it. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between cultural capital and girls' participation in sports. The research method is a descriptive correlation that was performed by field method and in terms of purpose is part of applied research. The statistical population of the present study was randomly selected from a sample of 330 female high school students, 384 of whom were between 15 and 17 years old. The questionnaire of this research was made by a researcher and its face validity and content were confirmed by professors and experts in the field of culture and physical education and finally the results were evaluated by measuring the reliability of Cronbach's alpha. The questionnaire was provided to the samples online and Spss statistical software was used to analyze the answers to the questionnaire. Data analysis was performed at two levels of descriptive statistics (tables, etc.) and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient). According to the findings of this study, the average participation of girls in sports activities is related to variables such as age, family income, parental education and etc. The results also showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between cultural capital and it's various dimensions with girl's participation in sports; This means that with the increase of girl's cultural capital, the level of sports participation among them also increased.
