Objective: The present study is to investigate the factors affecting the development of sports tourism in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Methodology: This research is descriptive and inferential, applied in terms of purpose and in terms of field implementation. The statistical population of the study includes all stakeholders in the tourism sector of Kurdistan region consisting of university professors, managers and experts of Kurdistan tourism and researchers and There were 189 students in the field of tourism and the research measurement tool was a modified questionnaire of limbs and colleagues (2015) and the test results were obtained through SPSS23 software.
Results: The results showed that natural landscapes affect the development of sports tourism in Kurdistan by 86%, while tourism facilities affect the development of sports tourism in Kurdistan by 72%, as well as factors affecting the development of tourism industry. Sports in Iraqi Kurdistan There is a significant difference and its most important priorities include: natural attractions (4.97), infrastructure (4.31), advertising (4.23), recreational activities (3.99), hosting events (3.61) and tourism facilities (3.51).
Conclusion: Based on the results of the research and due to the existence of good and talented nature of the region, more attention should be paid to infrastructure and with extensive publicity and introduction of the region as a tourist tourism destination and increase of tourism facilities and recreational activities Tourism became especially sports tourism in this region.
