Covid 19 Pandemic; Alert for Obesity and Musculoskeletal Disorders in Housewives

Abstract:
Introduction & Objective: The outbreak of coronavirus has led to many changes in activity daily life and work patterns among all people, and low physical activity has become a habit. On the other hand, poor posture or prolonged posture and how to use a mobile phone significantly affect muscle activity and musculoskeletal position. The aim of this study was to evaluate the extent of musculoskeletal disorders and obesity in housewives.
Methodology: The Nordic questionnaire was used to assess musculoskeletal disorders and the BMI index was used to assess normal weight. The statistical population of the present descriptive study was all housewives of Markazi province, of which 83 people participated in the study as a sample and filled out questionnaires. In order to analyze the data, McNeymar and paired t-tests were used. to investigate the relationship between musculoskeletal disorders and obesity in women, Spearman correlation test was used at a significant level (P <0.05). Results: Musculoskeletal disorders were observed in the neck, shoulders, upper back and lower back during the spread of the Corona compared to before (P <0.05). There was also a significant correlation between musculoskeletal disorders and obesity (P <0.05).
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the amount of physical activity and movement decreases and gradually leads to motor poverty and its consequences, also the occurrence of overweight and obesity. On the other hand, musculoskeletal disorders are exacerbated by inactivity and ergonomic habits at home. Therefore, encouraging housewives to exercise and teaching them proper posture and ergonomic tips can help reduce these problems.
