Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships between perceived motivational climate (task-oriented motivational climate- ego-oriented motivational climate) and observational learning functions regarding mediating role of achievement motivation.

Method: The present study is a descriptive-correlational. 230 volunteer athletes male and female in team and individual sports participated in this study. Three questionnaires including of perceived motivational climate (PMCSQ- Newton et al 2000), Sport Orientation (SOQ- Gill and Dieter 1998) and functions of observational learning (cumming et al 2005) were used in this study. Data were analyzed by the structural equation modeling method using SPSS 22 and PLS 3 software.
The results of our present study proves that structural model of relationship between task-oriented motivational climate and observational learning functions regarding mediating role of motivational achievement is meaningful and in comparison with structural model of relationship between ego-oriented motivational climate and observational learning functions regarding mediating role of motivational achievement, is a stronger model with fitting index and an adequate quality. The final analysis of the research model shows that the direct effect of task-oriented motivational climate on observational learning functions with the medium level of effect size (0/13) is greater than the indirect effect with regarding mediating motivational achievement, but the presence of mediating variable improves the total effect in a meaningful way. Therefore we can state that the motivational achievement as a mediating variable leads to a better explanation of observational learning functions.
Accordingly, it is suggested to the coaches that with creating a task-oriented motivational climate in the team, not only directly but also indirect way by increasing motivational achievement in athletes, they can make use of observational learning functions.
