Abstract
Background and Aim: A high ability for keeping postural balance. for maintaining the vertical projection of the center gravity within the base of support, is essential in sports. In the first place, effective postural balance reduces the risk of sport injuries Muscle fatigue reduces the capacity of muscle to produce tension and power output after repeated muscle contraction, which results in decreased proprioception system function and impaired Postural control. The purpose of the present study The effect of a central muscle fatigue training session on dynamic Postural control in femail basketball players.
Methods: This study was performed in 2021. The study had a quasi–experimental, pre-test-post-test design and included a control group. For this purpose, 30 young femail basketball players (mean age= 22.3±2.1 years, mean height= 176.4±4.1 cm, and mean weight= 66.4±6.5 kg) were volunteered to participate into experimental and control groups. Dynamic postural control of subjects in pre-test and post-test were measured using Y test, respectively. The experimental group performed the central muscle fatigue protocol in one session. This was while the control group participated in only two stages of pre-test and post-test. Paired T-test and independent T-test were used for data analysis at a significance level of P<0.05.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of dynamic postural control of the subjects in the experimental and control groups (P=0.03).
Conclusion: According to these findings, The central muscle fatigue training reduces the dynamic postural control of femail basketball players. Therefore, using different types of specialized exercises to experience the period of fatigue may be effective in improving the dynamic postural control of basketball players
