introduction: Considering the importance of core stability training and the high prevalence of aspirin and ankle instability and the subsequent loss of balance and postural sway, as a risk factor in the occurrence of recurrent ankle sprain, doing core stability exercises to increase balance and improve postural sway, can have a significant role in reducing re-injury. The aim of this study was to investigate The effect of selected core stability exercises session on functional stability of amateur basketball players with with functional ankle instability. Methods: This study was performed in 2021. The study had a quasi–experimental. For this purpose, 30 students amateur basketball players (mean age= 17.2±2.1 years, mean height= 176.2±2.1 cm, and mean weight= 72.4±5.5 kg) were volunteered to participate into experimental and control groups. functional stability of subjects in pre-test and post-test were measured using Y test, respectively. The experimental group performed the selected core stability exercises in one session. Paired T-test and independent T-test were used for data analysis at a significance level of P<0.05. Results: The results of showed that after performing the selected exercises of central stability in a one session, the functional stability in the experimental group improves compared to the control group )P<0.05(. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it seems that the central stabilizing muscles play an important role in controlling the proximal and distal joints for the functional stability of athletes with functional ankle instability. It is recommended that in order to improve the functional stability of athletes with functional instability of the ankle, in addition to rehabilitation exercises, the central stabilizing muscles should also be considered. |
