Introduction & Objective: Unlike previous fields, positivist psychology does not pay attention to the harm and treatment of mental disorders and tries more to bring a happier life to human beings; In other words, positivist psychologists focus on being happy and promoting good health. Since reducing the level of physical activity and overweight have destructive effects on physical and mental health of individuals, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of positive psychological intervention on the level of physical activity and happiness of inactive overweight women. Methodology: For this purpose, using the physical activity questionnaire of Sharki et al. (2002), 30 sedentary women with overweight (body mass index 25 to 29) with an age range of 40 to 60 years were selected from Ahvaz and after performing The pretests were randomly classified into two groups: experimental and control. Then, the participants of the experimental group participated in a positive psychological program. This program consisted of 8 sessions of 60 minutes, which were compiled by Farideh Barati Sedeh and the necessary changes were applied in accordance with the research. During this period, the participants in the control group performed their daily activities, and finally, according to the pre-test, the participants filled in the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (2010) and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (2000) in the post-test. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis of covariance (P <0.05). Results: The results of analysis of covariance showed that positive psychological intervention had positive effects on the level of physical activity (P = 0.001) and happiness (P = 0.001) of inactive overweight women and the participants in the experimental group performed better than The control group had post-test (P = 0.001). Conclusion: Considering that sedentary lifestyle is one of the health problems in the world today. This problem is more pronounced in women and puts them at risk for problems such as diabetes and depression. According to the research findings, it seems that positive psychological intervention is a good way to improve physical activity and happiness in overweight women. |
