Abstract |
Background: During the nationwide lockdown, people were experienced negative emotions and lifestyle changes including reduced physical activity and increased sedentary time. Also, physical activity is associated with reduced risk for health conditions including coronary heart disease, cancers, diabetes, and stroke Purpose: The aim of this research was to investigate the relations of Sport Activities Tendency and Quality of Life among medical college students during Coronavirus Pandemic. Methodology: The cross-sectional survey was adopted Sport Activities Tendency and Quality of Life by using an online questionnaire through an online survey platform during January 2022. From available samples, a total of 154 valid questionnaires were collected. The research instruments included basic demographic information, Naji et al (2011) and WHOQOL-BREF(standard) questionnaires. Reliability of questionnaires was determined using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The Kolmogorov -Smirnov test was used to determine the normality of the data distribution and for data analysis Multiple Regression & Pearson Correlation coefficient tests were used. statistical analysis was performed by SPSS software. Results: Among the dimensions of Sport Activities Tendency (role of environment & people around, culture and media, health, leisure time spending), two dimensions (environment & people around and health) predicted the quality of life. Sport Activities Tendency was less in singles and Unemployed students than married and employed. Also, the means of quality of life in singles and employed students were less than married. Tendency to Sport Activities for leisure time spending had lower and for health had higher means. The means of Psychological dimension of quality of life was upper and social environment was lower than other dimensions. Reliability of Sport Activities Tendency and quality of life questionnaires were 0.86 and 0.92, respectively. Conclusion: The quality of life for medical college students in areas with different risks of COVID-19 was affected by different factors. Associated factors identified from this study would help develop proper intervention measures to reduce the impact of large-scale public health events like the COVID-19 on their quality of life. |
