Physical activity during COVID-19 pandemic in different regions of the country |

Abstract |
Introduction: The Covid-19 virus pandemic and related government recommendations and restrictions (lock down) have affected many aspects of human life, including exercise. The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of physical activity during the corona pandemic in different states of the country. Methodology: sixteen thousand people from different cities of Iran were selected as a statistical sample randomly and they answer to physical activity questionnaire. Statistical analysis of respondents' data were collected by online survey, was used to assess the level of physical activity. One-way analysis of variance and Scheffe post hoc test were used to analyze the data. Results: the findings showed that there was a significant difference between the level of physical activity in different provinces during the covid-19 (p = 0.000, F = 9.78 (8, 12617) F). The results of Scheffé post hoc test showed that the amount of physical activity in Azeri provinces (East and West Azerbaijan, Urmia, Zanjan and Ardabil), West (Kermanshah and Sanandaj), North (Gilan, Golestan and Mazandaran) East, South, Tehran and the province The surrounding areas were significantly higher than Khorasan province (P <0.05); The level of activity in Tehran and surrounding provinces was significantly higher than the central provinces (P <0.05). Finally, there was no significant difference between the level of physical activity in other provinces (P <0.05). Discussion: The rate of physical activity in the Corona epidemic has decreased in all provinces compared to abroad, although research studies by Gallo et al. (2020), Danton et al. (2020) and Aghababa et al. (2021) but the decrease in physical activity in Iran was much lower than the global average. Conclusion: Decreased physical activity during the epidemic can lead to various diseases such as poor mobility, metabolic syndrome and mental health problems. Therefore, it is suggested that incentive policies be considered to increase physical activity. |
